I've only worked on one site where I know the building inspector was bribed - I came in after most of the work was done. The homeowner also owned a resort in St. Kitts. The inspector evidently like spending time in the Caribbean on a regular basis. Lots of strange things done on that job. To this day (8 years later) there are still a number of buildings with power but not metered. Evidently the electrical inspector and the POCO rep didn't get invited along. I think the new owner will be in for a surprise at some point when the POCO wakes up to almost a decade of lost revenue...

I had an inspector try to extort a foreman of mine when I first started. It was actually very funny looking back:

Inspector- yea everything looks good except the twisted ground on the service.

EC- I'm sorry, what's that mean?

Inspector- oh you don't know about that, it's a local thing.

EC- ummm ok show me

Inspector- (takes a pad of paper) See you've got the hot and the neutral (draws parallel lines)

And the ground is all twisted up (adds to drawing, Ends up with---


$



..... And the screaming started!!
