Shall be supported and secured by staples, cable ties , hangers, or similar fittings, designed and installed so as not to damage the cable..

Does tie wire fit into this... ???

I've seen it done. And have done it. But don't believe it
does .

Thank you.

I've used it, mostly to be covered, I don't care to use it where exposed... I will double wrap it.
I seem to break the stuff to easily.

As long as it doesn't damage the cable IMO it's fine and actually stronger than a skinny plastic cable tie.

I guess it's fine then.............. but I don't see it fitting into that wording...........

Shall be supported and secured by staples, cable ties , hangers, or similar fittings, designed and installed so as not to damage the cable..

Guess you could use "anything" then.................

fishing line, a shoe lace, shoe leather, garbage bag tie, crazy glue, bazooka bubble gum, hemp, pieces of rag, a sock with a hole in it, underwear with a skid mark???

I agree, although it's commonly used it really doesn't fit the code section.

This section needs rewritten, there is this:

320.30 Securing and Supporting.
(A) General. Type AC cable shall be supported and secured
by staples, cable ties, straps, hangers, or similar fittings,
designed and installed so as not to damage the cable.

Yet its cousin MC says this:

330.30 Securing and Supporting.
(A) General. Type MC cable shall be supported and secured
by staples, cable ties, straps, hangers, or similar fittings
or other approved means designed and installed so as
not to damage the cable.
