Cable Gland in IIC Area

Dear All,

We have area classification of Zone 1,II C ,T4 (H2 gas )
selected instrumentation is (Intrinsically safe transmitters) Ex ia ,

Ex d certified cable gland selected , cable also considered in accordance with Int Safe design
Do these cable glands have to be with barrier seal
Project location :India, code followed IEC 79 and BIS

Using a properly installed flameproof [Ex d] gland would not usually require additional sealing in IEC Zone 1.

While the US NEC defines certain Zone classifications and "AEx"-type protection techniques, they are NOT exactly the same as standard IEC 79 concepts, no matter what any US marketer may say. If nothing else, they can, and often do, use different test standards.

This site is for US NEC installations. "Pure" IEC installations are not within its scope. We will often try to assist the best we can but we may not be able help.
