I have a 200amp GE main breaker that an engineer wants de-rated to a 175a main for a solar install. Never seen a 175a main (I haven't asked the manufacturer yet)...what if I cannot find one for the job? It's a Tm3220muw panel.

If you can't find one you will have to, I dunno, do something else. If the engineer put something in the design that doesn't exist it is his problem to fix. It's his responsibility to design something that is buildable.

They certainly exist. Just Google "[your favorite manufacturer] 175A main breaker" and you will get results.

But yes, probably a special order from your usual supply house.

done it myself before. cost 400 bucks for cutler hammer..... i believe, in my case.
not cheap for a breaker.
BUT, beats a service change.

We've done it several times too, but the 175 amp main breakers always needed to be ordered.
