I have a question about 4 way switches. Some come marked input and output. I know that it will work regardless but as far as listing goes does it really make a difference as to which side the travelers hook to. I am thinking that it is just a way of helping the installer make sure that each set of travelers get hooked to the proper set of screws. Some of them just come with different colored screws. What are your thoughts.

Just curious, what brand switches have you seen with this marking?
I will have to check on Monday. I think that it is Leviton.

When you use different colored screws, you have to guess whether one color marks input side and the other output side or whether one color marks traveler wire 1 and the other traveler wire 2 (in the "normal" position of the switch).
