I have 5 sub panel at 200 amps each I can not gain access to the main panel as it is the property of the power company.

2 questions

1) can i just size the Generator for all 5 sub panels (5 x 200)?

2 will i need 5 separate transfer switches for these 5 sub panels?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since you cannot access the common line side of the breakers feeding those panels, I see no way you can avoid either using five transfer switches. Unless of course you can find a fifteen pole (or 20 pole) transfer switch.

What size genset would i need?

Strictly speaking that question cannot be answered with any kind of accuracy with the information you have provided.

Yeah you could do 5x200=1000 but that will very likely make the cost off the charts compared to someone that sizes the generator to the calculated load or to a true load reading.

Are you doing the installation?

Rent a power logger and let it sit on the service for 30 days or grab the meter number and give it to the power company and they might be able to give you the peak demand.
