interlock wire colors

what are the wire colors for interlocks between separate pieces of equipment?
I.E., Air handler / Condensing unit.

120 vac control power
24 vdc controls

Red, black, blue, brown, orange, yellow, white, and green are the most common colors I have seen... :)

Different equipment types will often have their own color codes. NEC doesn't regulate this.

For HVAC each color generally has a common function throughout the HVAC industry.

a few are - Red - 24 volt "hot"
White - call for heat
Green - call for indoor blower
Yellow - call for compressor
Orange - reversing valve on heat pumps
Blue - 24 volt "common"

They may have their own standard for color codes of internal wiring but those above are common for field installed controls.
Internal wiring is not subjected to NEC on a listed product so they can and sometimes do use colors the NEC restricts to specific use for other things.
