Useful life of underground RGS used as EGC

I realize this can vary by soil conditions. I'd like some general observations though of how long you've seen underground rigid galvanized steel conduit last, in a condition that is useable as an Equipment Grounding Conductor. Thanks for any feedback.
 
We have an industrial facility with a considerable amount of underground GRS conduit and ground readings are still fine after 30-40 years
 
They have a company that tests their grounding on an annual basis. I am unsure of how they test.
