Anyone buy/use one of these yet?

I took a look at their 2500 with 159" wheelbase and 76" Height in back. It's front wheel drive.

supposedly gets 20mpg average loaded, hauls over 1 ton cargo.

Potential Fuel savings alone compared to the E-series is huge. And they are cheaper than the new Ford Transit. (not transit connect, those are too small for our needs)

I am usually suspicious about the the MPG. IMO, you may get 20MPG empty and as a brand new vehicle but weight and age will lower the MPG. So I would not lean on the MPG as the only determining factor.

Im not, as YMMV is relavant. It's going to better than the 12-13mpg my e250/350's get.

I recently purchased a Ram Promaster 2500 series 136" wheel base w/ high roof. We purchased this unit off the lot with a 3.6 gasoline engine. Loaded, we get 18-19 mpg on the freeway and 16+ mpg combination in-town + some freeway. My 6.0 Chevy averaged 12 mpg in-town + freeway. My 4.8 Chevy gets 14 mpg in-town + freeway. I drive at the speed limit on freeways, 65mph, and don't accelerate quickly. My younger employees get less mpg's since they are not as careful with their driving habits and don't pay the fuel bill. The six speed transmission provides the much needed over-drive for better fuel mileage.

I am pleased with the engine performance from the 3.6 engine. My 4.8 Chevy is not as responsive as the Promaster with acceleration onto the freeway. . I will be curious to see how the mileage changes in colder weather. I will also be curious to see how well it handles in the snow and ice. Mine came with a driver's heated seat which will be extra nice in the colder weather. Since this model was introduced last year as a 2014, repair and reliability stats are not readily available to determine how it holds up with mileage & age. As such, I decided to purchase the extended warranty package for 5yrs. or 120,000 miles. Electronics and main drive train issues can be very expensive to repair if not covered after the standard 3yr. warranty.

I have just over 1,100 miles since the purchase in July of this year and am very pleased thus far. The headroom in the rear area is worth the extra cost for the high roof model. It's good to be able to stand up to access the storage bins without being on our knees as in our Chevy Express vans. There were no Ford Transit vans available for purchase off the lot at the time of our Promaster purchase. I may take a look at the new Transit vans possibly for our next van purchase. If the Promaster performs satisfactorily, I will most likely purchase another Promaster to replace our 2004 Chevy Express van w/ 160,000 miles.
