METER RING PROBLEM

Just installed a 200 amp murray Residential Panel . Meter is smart meter . Either old or new Allum ring refuses to latch ! Was end of a long day Fri.
Meter was pushed in tight ! Thanks for any Help . Tool Sorry wrong forum ! Too Many Hours !!

You sure it isn't a "ringless" meter base?
You said panel, is it a meter/main combo or did you mean to say meter base?

Are you saying that the meter was held into the old installation by the "old" ring and the same ring would not lock the original meter into the new meter base or combo panel?

PROBLEM SOLVED !

This was last Fri. Finished at Dusk after a 12 Hr . day . The ridge on the panel cover had a wow on it ! Straitened out with pliers this morn .
still bustin Azz at 72 ! Thank You Brothers . Tool

It sounds like you just need a different ring. Ring-type meter bases are a pain. There are some rings that you can take off and replace very easily, while others are very difficult. Place the ring around the meter and tap around the ring with the back of your screwdriver while pulling the ring together with your other hand. The best rings are the ones that have screws to tighten the ring to the meter.
