Proper way to connect a potable gen set

Hi All, looking for the proper way to connect a portable generator to a home service with respect to separately derived system.

If you want to set this up as an SDS you will need a transfer switch that switches the neutral conductor. I would use an inlet box and a generator breaker lockout and set it up as an non-SDS.

I agree, you also need to be sure that the neutral bond (if any) is removed from the generator. This is by far the best way to do the install.

Are you saying remove the neutral Bond fro the Gen for a SDS setup?

I'm not... and in fact that be a violation in setting up as an SDS, as the first disconnecting means is the breaker on the generator. SDS requires the SBJ in the source or first disconnecting means enclosure.
