A lighting and appliance panelboard by NEC definition ishaving more than 10 % of the breakers 30A or less. Could you have a 600a or800a lighting and appliance panelboard? Could you have a 600A panelboard withmostly 20A breakers? Thanks.

Don't forget that the 2005 code also stated that there had to be a neutral connection. So yes you could have a 600 amp panel with all lighting but I would think that would be unusual and probably not needing to be 600 amps.

Unless you're looking for code compliance from an old installation forget the terms Lighting and Appliance Branch Circuit Panelboard and Power Panelboard. Both concepts, along with the 42 circuit limitation are obsolete.
