Nipples and Locknuts

I have never seen this in the code book but I have an inspector telling me a lock nut must go all the way down to the end of the threads of a 7" nipple. Has anyone ever heard of this?

No, ask him for a code reference. Also if you have a metallic bushing on the inside you only need one locknut on the outside which therefore cannot be all the way down to the back end of the thread.

That's crazy talk. The threads are tapered, the locknut can't go all the way down to the end of the thread.

Some locknuts, you are lucky to get them 1/2 of the way.
