2011 NEC section 334.12(B)(4) does not allow the use of these cables in in wet or damp locations. I have a contractor that says it would be compliant if it is installed in conduit. I don't see any exceptions to this section. Any thoughts? :huh:

NEC classifies the inside of a raceway ran through a wet location as a wet location. You are correct.

If the inside of the walls is a damp location they have much bigger problems than the cable used.

In other words I agree it is not a damp location.

It doesn't that I'm aware of. The closest I've seen to this is 300.5(B) that considers the interior of enclosures or raceways installed underground to be a wet location. That's why I was interested in the opinions of others.

I think if junction boxes should be done in areas that they can't get wet.

I agree "iwire", they would have bigger problems. My opinion is the same as all of the replies. Not a wet or damp location. Just wanted some feedback from others.

That is why I asked...I agree with the others that say the inside of that wall is not a damp or wet location.

Following this line to it's end--then the exterior walls on a dwelling would be considered the same
