Question about adding a circuit breaker to a panel

I have a situation where I need 175 amps, 3 phase, 480 volts. I have a 225 amp, 3 phase, 480 volt panel available with a 225 amp main breaker. There are other breakers in the panel but there is a minimal load, approximately 10 to 20 amps per phase. Can I add this 175 amp breaker to the panel ? Thank you.

Check your label in the panel. It may have a breaker size limit per stab.

I would be very surprised if that panel has provisions for an added 200 amp frame size breaker.

maybe you can add an external 175A CB and wire it feed through.

For sure, that or a fused disconnect may be able to be tapped onto the panel feeder.

I was just pointing out that a panel with a 225 amp main will not normally have spare provisions to accommodate a 200 amp frame size breaker. We can certainly order them like that but would not unless there was a reason.
