I need to provide temp power to a mobile trailer which uses 120/240. The panel on the trailer is 125A but I think the most it draws is around 30amps. Will a 25kv generator be enough to power this?
That or he forgot the A in kVA:happyyes:I assume you mean 25 KW. which means 25000 watts of power. or 104 amps.
Yes, that is plenty for a 30 amp load.
KV is kilovolts so 25 KV is 25000 volts. You just got your terminology crossed up.
My experience is that the prime mover is rated in kW (or HP) and the generator in kVA.That or he forgot the A in kVA:happyyes:
But the generator is likely rated in watts at a certain power factor and not VA.
Probably right, though most smaller portable generator sets still seem to be overall rated in watts. Fine details may state otherwise but obvious markings are always watts. My experience is that the prime mover is rated in kW (or HP) and the generator in kVA.
Typically a 100kVA generator would have a maximum power output of 80kW.
