You know these things, the little pull tabs at the bottom of electronic dimmers that claim to disconnect the load...
They are sometimes called Front Accessible Service Switch...
I cannot seem to fine the relevant code section.
I did find 404.15 (B) (which is horribly written) which says:
(B) Off Indication. Where in the off position, a switching device with a marked OFF position shall completely disconnect all ungrounded conductors to the load it controls.
However, this does not require an air gap, or even that an electronic dimmer be capable of turning a load completely off by whatever means.
