Does a inspector have to inspect concrete pole base as in see hole depth,rebar cage..before concrete is poured other than inspecting piping depth of 18" ?

There is not a one size fit all answer to that question. Someone should verify the hole depth, concrete strength, bolt length and pattern and steel cage all meet up with manufacturers data for the wind load.

Code says you can not conceal work until after inspection.
Your inspector may waive that (even though he does not have the authority). Give him a call, or just call for inspection.

In my area we have to get an inspection prior to pouring. Its also a separate building permit.

The code does not say that. Local rules or laws determine that. :)



BillyE, you would have to check you local rules or maybe someone from NC can answer.

Maybe the NEC doesn't say that but I'd like to see a code adopting statute and/ or building code (which adopts the electrical code) that doesn't say that.
