682.10 states that "electrical equipment and transformers, including their enclosures, shall be specifically approved for the intended location."
Does that mean that every box, cover, device, light, etc. that is on a stationary dock must be specifically listed for use on a dock even when installed at least 12" above the dock platform and above the datum plane?

Approved means acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction.
It's different from Listed.

That being said, I don't think there's anything that says an AHJ can't say "I'll approve it if it's listed"

IMHO being 12" above the dock platform and above the datum plane is still use on a dock.

I didn't mean to say listed. Sorry. So, approved means approved by AHJ?
i do see the definition in the NEC. Thanks for your help!
