What is it?A friend asked me to post this picture. It was found in a water well about 140 ft deep. He thought it was some type of lightning arrestor.
I've worked on water wells before but have not seen this.

Looks like a green Hydraulics book by McGraw Hill.

Some guy probably left the book in the well while working on it.

Probably break time or something.

As for the candle holder in the picture it looks pretty old.

I can see the logic of this "lets keep the drinking water pure by dropping lead brass and iron into it" could you please add a smidgen of murcury please, and hurry I am not feeling "well".
