127 x 1.732 = 219.964 (close enough to 220)

Only way to get 220/127 volts from a transformer supplied system is with a three phase wye with 127 volts to neutral. That means this unit is likely a three phase system as mentioned.

unless you are actually using this unit as a voltage/phase converter it will not match up to existing 120/240 single phase.

No, it will not work.

It will see the 120/240 input as an overvoltage and switch the load to battery power.

If UPS input star connected, short phase leads and apply 120V between shorted leads and N of UPS. If UPS input delta, reconfigure it to star. However consult with UPS manufacturer for the above.

With all the phase leads of star connected input of the UPS shorted and connected to the 120V supply with the neutral, the output from the UPS would only be 120 V. So by connecting any two leads of the UPS to one phase of the 120V/240V supply and the third phase lead from the UPS to the other phase of the 120/240V supply and connecting the neutral of the UPS to that of the 120/240V supply, the UPS may then be able to supply 240V loads.
Of course, the above procedure also requires vetting from the UPS manufacturer.
