SCR controlled AC-DC rectifier in a Telephone Exchange. 200KVA diesel genset. Slight Hunting. With 250KVA diesel genset no hunting. Harmonics production from the rectifier is the cause of the genset hunting. Which of the following options may solve the issue?
1)Provision of active harmonic filter on line side
2)Provision of passive harmonic filter on line side
3)Provision of filter in the automatic voltage regulator(AVR) circuit of the generator
4)Changing the firing angle of the rectifier to 360 degrees to decrease the harmonics production
Thanks.

How big is the actual load? (Less load as percentage of available output usually means less hunting.)
Is the generator mechanically- or electronically governed? (Mech governors are less forgiving than electronic and don't adjust as fast.)
What is the actual harmonic distortion of the UPS?

Probably the easiest is a line reactor in the the UPS feed, but without knowing more info it's sort of guesswork.
