Cable supporting

I started a thread earlier but after reading it I didn't even understand what I was trying to say. My question is when fishing cables above a hard lid ceiling does the cables have to be supported so that they are not resting on top of the hard lid ceiling. My AHJ says they do, which is fine but where does it clairfy this in the NEC?

You and him need to read 334.30 (B)(1)

This code article refers to Nonmetallic-sheathe Cable types nm,nmc, and nms. Is there anywhere that says it is ok to do this for cat 6 as well?

If you are "fishing" a cable it is generally because you can't physically enter the space it is run in to provide additional support.
