no neutral; still SDS?

For a portable generator trailered 480V generator where the neutral is not need for the load (not ran to transfer switch but is available at the genset), and the neutral IS bonded to ground at the generator, is this a separately derived system?

Based on the NEC definition of SDS, it sounds like it is because there is no direct connection from 1 system to another. It would be the same as if the neutral was switched at the transfer switch; neutrals are not connected.

The neutral really has nothing to do with the issue. It is an SDS as long as there is no connection of a circuit conductor between two systems. The system in the OP will require an EGC conductor be run with the phase conductors.

Thanks, that is what I thought. There will be a EGC. Now I have to resolve one of my previous threads, if the transfer switch can be 3-pole even though 4-pole is typically used with SDS. No neutral at transfer switch from either source.
