First off I am not a DATA/Comm. guy but find toners to be usefull when troubleshooting. Historically shops I have worked for had there own, but now I want to buy one for myself.

Who makes the best toner for Electricians trouble shooting dead circuits?

That progressive/tempo toner is everywhere it's a good little unit. Just buy the toner and probe separately. I don't know why but when you buy the kit the toner includes the low end clips the ones without the bed of nails.

The best toner, IMO, is by Fluke. If you short out the two wires the toner is hooked to for a second, it changes tone, which allows you to verify that you actually have the correct set of wires. That feature has saved me countless hours over the years I have used my Fluke toner.

I've used this brand and it worked good. Found buired boxes in the drywall. The link on this page, has a really good price for it too.
