Micro inverters, I've always wire nutted my EGC when it was easier using a crimp sleeve, I got called on using wire nuts on a enphase system. AHJ said they want them irreversible crimped, I tried to find it in code were it states the the EGC has to be irreversible crimped, can someone give me a code reference were it says it does not, thanks

A GEC needs an irreversable crimp/splice method, but not an EGC. I have no idea if solar has some funny rule I do not know about.

Why GEC is more important than EGC (since requiring irreversible crimp implies this)? Isn't it both are required to protect lives and structures (fire)? I would think irreversible crimp required in both case makes sense.

A case could be made that a EGC is more important. Why the irreversible crimp for the GEC? No good reason other than the warm fuzzies people get when they connect a wire to earth.
