Installing vapor (air ) tight boxes in a ceiling rough

Two major suppliers don't carry air tight bath fans and actually looked at me weird when I asked if they carry them.

Did a quick search last night on line but nothing popped up.

What have you been doing about bath fans to satisfy that code ??

Thanks

What Code?

When I read the post topic, I was thinking you oxymoron... :D

Definition of oxymoron

I've not yet found one that's vapor tight either. The housings I've used are sheet metal with lots of gaps and punched holes. I seal inside with silicone beads on the seams, and from above with foil tape and/or duct mastic on the bigger holes. If the drywall hole is sloppy then I caulk from below. My own holes I try to make tight, so there isn't a gap for caulking below - I hit them from above instead.

How much energy leaks out the vent (when not in use)? My bet is more then what leaks around/through the housing.

During cooling season that isn't a bad thing either.
