Working on the design of a new school which of course has fire alarm designed.

There is however a stand-alone bathroom/storage structure (approx. 1000 sq.ft building) by the football field. Would this building require fire alarm as well? Connected to the main school fire alarm system?

Thank you!

I have the same situation but the building has sprinklers only. The flow switch and related equipment is tied to the main building panel but does not sound the main building alarms in the event of a trip. It’s tied to the main building only for convenience of one panel, one dialer, one monitored account, one UL listing, etc. it used to be a speparate panel before upgrades.
In my area, whenever the building is physically separated, it becomes a separate system and must sound only the affected area. That may change if the separation is only a few feet say, or some other unique exposure issue, but in my case, it’s a stadium building 1,000 feet away from the main building.
The question on IF it needs a system would be a question for your municipality or AHJ. They can vary greatly.
