Where in the NEC 2011 book does it specifically or non-specifically say that a explosion proof seal off is NOT required at
the motor in a Class 1 Div 2 area?

Background: I have a few TEFC type motors on a gas process skid, class 1 div 2 area. I am being told to install a explosion proof seal offs at the motors, I already have some at the power panel. So i need to prove to the engineer that it is not required.
Or am I wrong?

Are your motors listed for a Class 1 location or simply TEFC ?

Are these single phase or three phase motors?
Are they explosion proof?
If single phase and not explosion proof, you probably need a seal.
