GFCI Protection within 6' of sink

Does a receptacle outside of a bathroom, but within 6ft of the vanity sink, require GFCI protection. Example; a bedroom receptacle serving bedroom wall space outside the bathroom, but within 6ft of the vanity if the bathroom door is open. My thoughts are if something with a 6ft cord were plugged into the receptacle, it would be able to reach the sink with the door open. 2014 NEC-210.8(A)(7).

Thank You

Unfortunately there is no exception for that situation so I would have to say a gfci is required.

Oh but there is ......... if you live in MA. :)

We have 210.8(E) which explains how the measurements are to be taken and that walls, doors, barriers etc end the measurement.
