how to size GEC for 800 amp service

I have a 800 amp 3 phase service being fed with parallel 500 mcm copper conductors.

Table 250.66 gives me the sizing for the GEC. Do I just double the 500 mcm by 2 and call it 1000mcm which would fall under the 2/0 CU?

At my age, I'm accustomed to restaurants asking me to pay in advance, but now my bank has started sending me their calendar one month at a time.
