Is there anything in the NEC that addresses the use of 90° elbows in a C1D1 application? I'm referring to the tight radius elbows like the C-H EL series. I'm working on a machine where the OEM used them extensively. I'll be making some modifications to the piping and need to know if I should follow suit and continue to use them. I'm not even sure how you pull the wires through them, a fish tape certainly isn't going to pass through.

The NEC does not apply to on-machine OEM raceway.

As to pulling through EL elbows, it's pretty much done as the run is assembled.

If you don't use those fittings and you need a 90, you would have to use the much larger GUAB type of fitting in a Class I, Division 1 location.

As far as pulling wires through the "EL" fittings, we would install a pull wire as we installed the conduit and fittings and then use that pull wire to install the actual circuit conductors. Often the "EL" is very close to some type of enclosure, and if you feed (push) into the "EL" the pull goes fairly easy.
