I have a number of DC Motors on our rotational molding machine and every time we take one out to replace the motor, we break the seal tight because it is in a very tight place and I would like to know if there is any rule that I can't put SO Cable from the motor to the junction box. It would be a lot easier and less down time. The motors are 1hp and 2hp. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

I see no reason you can't.

take a look at 400.7(A) and see if you qualify. You may need some kind of plug.

HP is not the issue. Environment and protection is. Be sure SO is compatible with the environment you at using these motors in.
