What are your favorite go-to wall light switches? I see Lutron has one that is for no neutral but requires a bridge of some sort?

All I need is to be able to turn office lights on or off from a phone. No dimming. Employees leave lights on in the upstairs offices and the owner wants to see whether they are on or not, and be able to turn the lights off with his phone from home.

Lutron works well, yes, you need the hub, but has pretty good range. I believe it uses Bluetooth. I set up a heavy equipment repair shop to where the owner can shut off the air compressor and lights if the employees left them on. (You can also see if they are actually on)

Leviton smart switch. No hub needed. I think Lutron is a better system though. Whatever switch you pick make sure to get one from a major manufacturer, dozens of these kinds of switches come from companies that flame out and are no longer supported so you are left with a $50 manual toggle switch.

If it’s a single switch, I would go with something WiFi based. Or an occ sensor.

The occupant sensor is great normally, but this is also two offices and the lights turn off leaving us in the dark. We have to get up to turn them back on.
WiFi switch is what I’m wanting so we can turn the lights off from 100 miles away.

That's a cold hearted thing to do to the guy that just got up to turn the lights back on.

Good way for the boss to see if anybody is working from a distance! LOL!

Variant question: does anyone offer a solution that does not depend on an Internet service outside my control?

Cheers, Wayne

what if the guy that's supposed to turn the lights off on his phone forgets?

many options available. I had a zigbee device network in my home controlled with Home Assistant on a raspberry pi. I used Legrand zigbee switches but paired them to home assistant instead of the Legrand gateway & app. There are several brands compatible with home assistant.

He is the owner. He wants it so when he rides by at nights and sees the lights on he can turn them off, or he can check to see what’s on or off from anywhere.

Th Lutron Casseta app will show if they are on or off in the app. He would not have to drive by.
That’s what I’m wanting. What started this question is he was riding by on the bypass and saw his office lights upstairs on from a distance.
