Do I have to use RMC for the vertical drop portion for a feed to Indutrial Equipment? In this case, 1" conduit to a cabinet 8' AFF with bar joists at 20' AFF.

If you want to run a raceway for the 20' vertical section it either has to be supported or it has to be RMC.

You could run EMT but you would have to find a way to provide a support every 10'.

Understood. Thanks!
The run from the top of the wireway to the bar joist is 11'. What would you use? Still RMC?

yes. ever been in an old plant where the maintenance guy's use emt drops
to equipment? ever seen them after a couple years? :-( ... couplings coming
loose, kinks, bends, etc.

electrical conduits get used for attachment points for everything, from poly
flow lines, to cat 5 cables to other conduits piggybacked with minnies.
... it's a freeway from the ceiling to the device.

Strut from the ceiling to floor would help. Then you could run any method you want. Also the air lines, water, electrical, comm.
