In series would be for a current controlled device. These are voltage controlled so they must be in parallel.

parallel. purple and gray's together. the dimmer switch turns them on and off, and the
purple and grays say how bright. touch purple and gray together, and they go dim.
separate and they go bright.

if purple and gray contacting don't do anything, they are dmx or eco digital fixtures.
then your 0-10 dimmer won't work.

you are screwed.

Eco digital lights are from lutron and don't use the 0-10v in the same manner that you are used to. The purple and grey inside a lutron Eco driver is a communication bus.

And DMX is/was used in theatrical lighting on like a stage. If I'm not mistaken DMX cable is usually shielded
