Thanks for all the responses on my last post.
My other problem I ran into with the inspection, is the LED recessed lights I'm dimming. The driver has a grey and purple lead that hook up to the Lutron 0-10v dimmer. The inspector is making me take the wire out of the switch box, saying it has to curl around the box and into the switch box. I kno LV and 120v isn't suppose to be in the same box, but It's made up in the recessed can splice box together, and it's tieing into the back of the dimmer leads in the switch box. What's the code on this? The sheet rocker will probably cut all those wires this way.

I haven't done any 0-10V dimming, but that sounds nuts.

We are doing lots of it now and have started using MC cable that has both the line voltage hots and the low voltage shielded conductors in it.

The cable is expensive but saves a ton of labor along with keeping things looking neater above the ceiling grid.

I've seen that MC. That's why I'm wondering why the OPs inspector is wanting him to pull the dimming wires out. Even more weird is that he wants them put back in the box.

I hesitate to comment on the OPs situation as I find it very unclear.

The code does require a minimum of 1/4" separation of the line and low volt conductors when they are allowed to be in the same enclosure.

check Lutron wiring diagrams

check Lutron wiring diagrams

I'm involved with some commercial LED recessed lights for the first time and we're using the pcs mc . My research tells me that the new Lutron Diva dimmer( they stated: now available with on/off control without relay) lists the control as class 1 wiring. That's what the wiring diagram says. so that's why that control wire is right inside the mc. I'm a little fuzzy about the specifics because I just don't clearly remember and I'm using a different device without all the docs.

again, I forget all the specifics but how can you have two different class systems coming into the same fixture JB or switch box without it being code compliant. because it is code compliant. your inspector is wrong. how can you terminate wires from inside the mc outside the switch box. this is impossible. get the Lutron wiring diagram and it will show all the wiring as Class 1. NOT some of their diagrams showing CLASS 2 wiring with switching relay but the DVSTV model without the relay.
