I am sizing a #1 aluminum 3 conductor w/ground SER cable per the 310.16 ampacity table and coming up with a rating of 100A in the 70 degree column. Then I remmembered the ampacity table for flexible cords and cables in 400.5(a) which has a listing for a SE cable and lists a #2, 2 conductor cable good for 95amps, although Im guessing this is a completely different cable and its probably also copper. Is SER sized per 400.5(a)? Im not installing it for flexibility but it is technically a cable and article 338 didnt specify which table to use, but im pretty sure its 310.16, I just want to make sure before i have 100ft cut. Is there anybody out there?

Art 400 is for flexible cords and cables. These wiring methods are generally not for installation of permanent wiring. The SE Cord in Table 400 is not the same as SE Cable in Art 338.
Also take a look at Art 300 and 310 for some requirements about wiring.

Use the internet and search the UL website and cable manufacturers sites to see the actual difference between the two different items.

Just size the cable according to 310.16 and if you use a 75 degree ampacity make sure that all of your terminations are rated at 75 degrees.
