2009 IBC 3008.15.1 requires that wires or cables serving occupant evacuation elevators be protected by construction having a 1-hour fire resistance rating. How is this typically accomplished? It appears that fire-tape could provide this protection.
It appears that MI (mineral insulated) cable also provides this rating. What about standard wiring in conduit (THHN, etc)? I assume it has no fire resistance rating?
