Is their any were in the NEC that mentions a 10' ground rod ? ( in the last 50 years)
800.100(B)(3)(2) permits 5' ground rods for that application.I've heard that telco's used to use 4 foot ground rounds.

10 foot ground rods are the norm in substation grounding. Often we'll couple 2 together for a 20' ground rod. Substation grounding is subject to IEEE 80 though, not necessarily NEC.
