10 year smokes

Residential smoke detectors are available with lifetime - ten year batteries. Are these batteries replaceable or sealed? Since the 10 year life is based on the americium isotope, I suspect the battery is sealed and non replaceable, and probably a lithium battery?
Question is clarification for disposal of smoke detectors that require batteries to be removed.

I believe the batteries can't be replaced. I don't know what type it is.

I believe smoke alarms are supposed to be disposed of (probably) at places that take NiCad and Li-ion batteries.

Smoke alarms have a 10 year life regardless of battery type. Here in NJ the sealed battery version is required.
