Some some on Ask This Old House, works with the Nest T-stat. I was interested until I saw the price at $120 each, but you can monitor on smart phone.

Battery ones with wireless will not be 10 year. at least for now.

Maintaining a wireless interconnection takes a lot more power than just powering the detector up every few seconds and using a wired interconnection.

Our smokes have ten year batteries, but they’re wired. Coming up on 9 years. Time flies.

What kind of experience? Buying, installing, forgetting about them? Sure. All I have bought for last year or so. Magic marker 10 yr date on face.
