100, 110.32, 110.34 - 5kV Motor Term Box and 12" Steel structural column conflict
I have a 5kV motor on a compressor with a very large, cast iron termination box approximately 40" wide x 50" high x 36" deep. There are no arcing devices within the box. BUT, there's a 12" wide steel vertical column installed within one foot directly in front of the box. The termination box cover is bolted all-around with probably 50 hex-head bolts. I don’t believe it's aaccessibility/working space violation since it doesn’t "require examination, servicing ormaintenance while energized" and there are no switching mechanisms internally. It doesn’t fit the definition of'exposed' live parts as with a panelboard or MCC.
Comments please?
