Have a customer that wants to replace a 100 amp panel with a 100 amp panel. Cost is a factor. Was wondering who makes a 100 amp panel (MCB) with the most circuits/spaces available. Thanks

I would add a 100 amp subpanel next to the existing 100 amp. Changing an entire panel to gain more circuits is not cost effective given the amount of labor required.

Have to agree that it is not money well spent but.....You could always use a 40 ckt 200 amp main lug panel and backfeed a 100 amp breaker for 36 available circuits.

I can't leave the existing panel due to a burn't lug and buss. I've tightened the lug as much as I dare,so I've got to change it out. The customer can't afford a larger service and I can't afford to give one away. They now have an old SQ D split buss 20 ckt pnl and I wanted to at least have a couple of spares. Thanks for your suggestions Guys.

SquareD QO132M100 has 32 spaces...

Given that "cost is a factor", you can get it for $95 on ebay.

What would the cost of the panel have to do with the cost of the job, when it's the labor, and overhead that runs up the cost of a service upgrade, not the material.

For one thing you might not get the job if you bid for an expensive panel when the other guy is using the cheapest thing around.

Money Money Money

Money Money Money

The panel is for a neighbor and I tried to price it so they would replace it before it burned up. Just trying to be a nice guy and help out. OOOH...MYY

charge more and move to a wealthier neighborhood...then you won't have these dilemmas :D

Unless you have a buying program for SQ D...what you will spend on the breakers will negate any savings on the panel.

Remember that no good deed goes unpunished. If they won't or can't have it repaired correctly - walk away. They are going to try to hold you responsible for every electrical problem their sub-standard installation has. Give them a price using the highest quality materials that you can find and be proud of your work. Give them the labor if you must, but don't scrimp on the material. There is too much junk out there that is not worth the effort it takes to install it.

That is usually how these jobs end up, they do not dont to spend a penny, but they are the same person that will hold you to the wire for every minor thing on the job, If they are a neighbor even worse, they will expect even more, and if you don't deliver, they will let the entire neighborhood know, what a bad guy you are to deal with. They only way to work with then is full price no breaks, Your in business, this is not a hobby.

GE makes a 30 Cir and a lot cheaper than Sq D hink of the breaker cost.

I second the GE install and add that you can get a GE panel listed for theTHQL and THQP (I think those are the types) breakers; one is 1" the other is 1/2". Depending on load requirements that may work for you.

You should ask your wholesale rep. Im happy with cutler hammer and a minimum of 20 spaces but that is usually pushing to 125 0r 150 amps. have the customer spend the money to upgrade. Why rock the boat to stay the same capacity are you changing from fuses to breakers? Propose the upgrade and quit tripping over dollars to save cents.
