I'm installing a 100 amp service on a barn, lean-to, and I would like to confirm ampacity of this service.

I see that table 310.15 (B)(6) is for Dwelling Service, feeders etc. calls for #4 THHN. This is not a dwelling as I see it.

So table 310.16 #3 at 75C is 100 amps.

Right or wrong?

Check with your local building department. In some cases, if the barn is built on a residential zone property and for a non-commercial use, it can be treated as such...

I agree that you can't use Table 310.15(B)(6), as that table is only for use with Single Phase Dwelling Services.

You are correct with using 310.16

Bryan,

I don't believe that a barn built in a residential zone qualifys as a Dwelling.

Just my opinion, what do you think?

I agree. Sounds more like a detached garage than a dwelling. And yes, #3 THHN/THWN at 75 degrees, 100 amps.
