A friend sent me a picture of a 100 amp subpanel he was installing to the main and wanted to know if he could move the EGC to the left lug (wire in left lug will be removed -- not being used). He wants to mount the new neutral for the subpanel (#2 copper) in the spot where the service ground used to be. As you can see this is a dual neutral bus. The problem is that it is such a tight panel that it is virtually impossible to add a bigger lug to the neutral bus bar. My thoughts are that it won't matter which side the EGC is mounted since it is still bonding the neutral. Any thoughts on whether I am correct in telling my friend that it doesn't matter where the EGC goes as long as it bonds to the neutral? Thanks.
