Yes, if your conductors are copper and you only need 100 amps.

I don't see why not, as long as the load requirements are met by 100A.

why would it need to be copper? can't you round up the OCPD size with AL wire?

#2 AL at 75 deg's is only good for 90 amps, a 90 amp breaker or fuse is a standard size, see 240.6 so you can not "round up" using 240.4(B) in the OP's case.

I was thinking the standard sizes jumped to 100A.
