I have 2 100' and 2 90' light poles. Each have 16 1500w MH fixtures. Three 30A 480v circuits feed each pole. There is a 7 conductor type??? cable run up each pole. The problem I have is due to the sway of the poles the cable and wirenuts at the base of the pole have rubbed through and short out. I have "repaired" any visual abrasion with multiple layers of 88 but would like to replace the wire up the pole. Has anyone found a reliable insulation type against abrasion for use inside a light pole? Also any suggestions on splicing?

Wrap the splices with mastic tape.

I have worked on a couple of these poles that used a device to apply a small amount of tension to the cable to limit the movement. These did not splice, but used a twist lock cord cap. To work on the fixture head, you removed the tension device, unplugged the cable and plugged the lowering device into the receptacle.
