So a really long story short - the customer completely remodeled a theater about 10 years ago...including the two 8' "as refurbished" entrance pole lights. The remodel contractor did a nice job and retro'ed the old lamps to LED and all has been well - now one burned out and I'm un able to find the exact replacements - so it becomes what can I use to get these guys fired up that is real close - I started looking over similar LED drivers and LED modules - and am not real happy, my choices at 277 are a little limited - and huge lead times - So I talked to my CREE rep - don't make these any more, talked to my driver rep - same thing - not in production.

My dumb question is has anyone ever been down this road and mounted a mogul base in a pole fixture head and just screwed in a corn cob - Am I nuts -

(Before any body rants to hire a real electrician as making my own light is a code violation - I am a licensed electrician - got a state card to prove it)

Thanks for any input guys...

A mogul base is probably best. More bulbs available. But if you find the right bulb, buy a case at least. I rarely see the same ones twice anywhere. Especially true if bulb has to fit a tight space.

Probably the best advice overall…

Can you use a step down autotransformer to step the 277 down to 240V or 120V?

There are a handful of medium, as well as mogul 120-277v screw-in LED lamps. It's a matter of what reasonable fits physically inside the luminaire.
