Good morning,
My son is wanting to install a 1 Ton (12000BTU) Minisplit in his food truck.
MABE MMT12HABWCATM1 1 ton Minisplit sold by Home Depot
I have spoken to a few HVAC installers and techs from well known companies and feel I am getting misinformation so I am posting my question(s) here hoping to get the correct answers.
The units placard indicates it draws 12.5 amps so 20amp breaker should be sufficient for power.
Outdoor unit gets its power from indoor unit via MFG supplied cable; in addition to a separate control cable.
This being said, I am told that unlike a 208/220vac residential minisplit, the disconnect (air-switch) should be located inside the truck next to the head unit/air-handler and not outside at the Outdoor unit.
Is this correct (per NEC) or am I required to install ont disconnect outside for the outside unit as well as the indoor unit?
Also can we use the cables/cords that the MFG supplied with the unit to connect the indoor unit to the outside unit as "intended" by the MFG - they would be inside NM Flexible Conduit ran between the indoor & outside units to protect them from possible damage.
Thank you all in advance for your anticipated assistance.
Blessings to you all
